Chris MacDonald

Chris MacDonald Director of the Jim Pattison Ethical Leadership Education & Research Program, and Associate Professor at Ryerson University's Ted Rogers School of Management. He is also a Nonresident Senior Fellow of the Kenan Institute for Ethics at Duke University, He specializes in business ethics: his interests encompass a range of practical and theoretical problems related to ethics in commerce. He is the co-author of The Power of Critical Thinking, 3rd Canadian Edition (Oxford, 2013). His work has appeared in many scholarly journals and trade publications. He is co-editor of The Business Ethics Journal Review.

He has held major research grants from two of Canada’s federal granting agencies. He was named as one of the “100 Most Influential People in Business Ethics” by Ethisphere Magazine in 2008, 2009, and again in 2010. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Political Studies from Trent University and a doctorate in Philosophy from the University of British Columbia. His current projects include an examination of the role of the notion of market failure in business ethics, and an exploration of the ethical implications of 21st-century manufacturing technologies.
