Ruth Fothergill
Head, Corporate Responsibility
Export Development Canada
Ruth Fothergill is the new Head, Corporate Responsibility at Export Development Canada
(EDC) and is located in Toronto. Prior to this new role, she directed EDC's Corporate
Outreach and EDC's Ontario Sales operation as Regional Vice-President, Ontario. She has
worked in Ottawa as EDC's General Manager, Quality and Customer Satisfaction, and
earlier as General Manager, Marketing and Communications.
Ms. Fothergill is a specialist in international trade and investment with service experience
as a trade official with Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada, and as a federal
negotiator at the Foreign Investment Review Agency. She has a B.A. (Honours) degree and
a Master's degree from Queen's University, and has completed the Marketing Management
Executive Program, Harvard Business School.
Ms. Fothergill serves on the Advisory Committees for International Economics and Finance at
Ryerson Polytechnic University, for International Business and Marketing at Niagara College,
and for International Marketing Management at Humber College. Ms. Fothergill is a 2007
International Individual Contributor Award winner for her work with AIESEC (Association
Internationale des Étudiants en Science Économique et Commerciale) Canada Inc.
